Ross County manager Jim McIntyre has challenged his players to see how long they can continue their winning run in the Scottish Premiership.
The Staggies go in search of a fourth win in a row today – a feat which would match the club’s top-flight record of two years ago – if they can beat Partick Thistle at Victoria Park.
With St Mirren not in action this weekend, victory for County will take them three points clear of the Saints and to within four points of the ninth placed Jags and McIntyre wants his side to make the most of its chance to increase the pressure on its rivals.
He said: “It would be a good sign of progress. The last three games have been excellent but you’ve got to be mindful of the fact that all it has done is take us level. So, it’s important the message remains the same – we’re not getting carried away. We’re just trying to win the next game and we know how tough that’ll be with the result Thistle had.
“Partick are really capable as they showed with the 4-0 win at Inverness in December. So, from our point of view, it’s just about taking that run forward another game.”
McIntyre knows beating Thistle should not be taken for granted, with the Jags responding well to their home defeat by County two weeks ago with an impressive win at Dundee United in their last outing.
The County manager expects Alan Archibald and his players to have revenge in mind when they travel north today. He said: “I know they were hurting when we won at Firhill and be doing all they can to return the compliment at our place but if we play as we did when we won there we have a great chance to extend our winning run.”
Ruben Palazuelos remains absent due to injury, with McIntyre expected to name an unchanged starting 11 for the fourth game in a row.
