Rangers have now officially appointed Stuart McCall as manager until the end of the season.
The former Motherwell boss has signed a short-term contract to take over as manager for the remainder of the season.
The former Ibrox midfielder will take charge after the new board acted to rejuvenate the club’s promotion hopes.
Rangers confirmed McCall had signed his deal just ahead of the former Motherwell boss meeting the media.
In a statement on their official website, the club said: “Rangers can today confirm that Stuart McCall has been appointed as manager of the club on a short-term contract until the end of the season.
“As part of the move, Kenny Black will become his assistant manager after working with McCall at Motherwell from 2011.
“McCall met the players at Murray Park this afternoon and took his first training session in preparation for Saturday’s game against Livingston at Ibrox.”
McCall’s appointment was revealed shortly after the club announced the departure of caretaker boss Kenny McDowall.
