Ross County manager Jim McIntyre has backed his attacking partnership of Craig Curran and Liam Boyce to fire the club to a fifth Premiership victory in a row at Hamilton today.
Englishman Curran has made a strong impression since joining from Nuneaton Town in January, scoring three goals in his first nine games – including the winner in last weekend’s 1-0 win against Partick Thistle.
However, McIntyre has been equally impressed by Northern Irish forward Boyce, despite the former Cliftonville and Werder Bremen forward not finding the net since the 2-1 defeat by St Mirren on January 17.
The strike partnership has coincided with County’s four-match winning streak and McIntyre hopes the pair can spearhead another good result against an Accies side that has not won since a 1-0 success against St Johnstone on January 4.
McIntyre said: “Craig has been on good form but I also think Liam Boyce is doing a lot of things well. We need our forwards to perform well to win matches. They’re the focal point of the team and they’ve been doing it very well.
“They pressurise the opposition and that’s really important. But workrate should be a given. That’s their professionalism and desire to put their opposite number under pressure and get up the park.
“They’ve been doing that part of the game very well and they need to continue it. We’ve done well of late but it’s a fresh game against Hamilton.”
Meanwhile, McIntyre says it will be at least another two weeks before midfielder Rocco Quinn is considered for a first-team return.
The former Hamilton midfielder continued his comeback with 45 minutes in the Development League team’s 6-1 defeat by Rangers on Thursday, having played 30 minutes in the 1-0 reverse against Celtic the previous week
Quinn has been out since October after undergoing a hip operation but McIntyre will not rush his return.
Fellow midfielder Ruben Palazuelos has also returned to training following a groin injury but the Spaniard will not feature in today’s game.
