Ross County midfielder Raffaele De Vita failed to win a league game with previous club Cheltenham Town, but has played a key part in County’s recent resurgence.
The Staggies are undefeated in five matches since the 27 year-old Italian made a goalscoring debut in the 3-2 win against Motherwell last month.
County manager Jim McIntyre brought De Vita to the club in January, following an unsuccessful spell with the Robins in which a 5-0 win against Swindon Town in the FA Cup was the only victory he enjoyed in 13 games in all competitions.
De Vita has had no such problems with the Staggies, and with the Dingwall side four points above bottom-placed St Mirren in the Premiership, the former Livingston player is upbeat about the chances of Premiership survival.
De Vita said: “I’ve brought a bit of luck at least. I did exactly the opposite at Cheltenham, where I went 10 league games without a win.
“Getting the goal on my County debut, and getting four wins in a row, everything becomes a little bit easier.
“There’s a lot more confidence throughout the whole team.
“The supporters are more vocal, they believe in the team a lot more and they know we’re never going to give up. We’re going to give everything to win games to stay in this league.”
County came back from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw against Hamilton Accies on Saturday, with the result stretching the unbeaten run to five matches.
Rather than take the plaudits, De Vita was frustrated the result broke the Staggies’ sequence of four straight victories.
He added: “We felt we could probably have got three points against Hamilton.
“But the way the game started, we had to be happy with a point, even though we created enough to score more than two goals.
“In the end it was a good point as we were away from home and we didn’t lose. We continue getting results, but we feel with the confidence we have at the moment we should be winning games.
“We always look to win games at home. On Saturday we are looking to get three points against Kilmarnock and nothing else.
“The first game I played against Motherwell I could feel a bit of tension. But now we have a lot more confidence, especially at home.”
