Alex McLeish has confirmed he will leave Belgian side KRC Genk at the end of the season.
The former Rangers, Scotland and Aston Villa manager has been in charge since last August but his team missed out on a place in the Jupiler Pro League Championship play-offs.
They will instead compete in the Europa League play-offs but the 56-year-old has opted against extending his stay at the club.
Former Aberdeen defender McLeish said: “I have decided that I won’t renew my contract when it expires at the end of the season.
“I’ve been revitalised with this challenge and I am proud to have worked with a group of players who have improved mentally, tactically and technically.
“I am proud that we have achieved a 46% win rate this season and with 49 points, we have amassed four more points than at this stage last season.
“Communicating this decision creates clarity and will allow us now to put our focus on winning a Europa League place.
“Myself, the staff and players promise to give every ounce of energy as we did in the regular competition.”
However McLeish distanced himself with speculation linking him to a return to Rangers.
Stuart McCall is currently in charge of the Ibrox side until the end of the season.
McLeish added: “I can never talk about the future – I will deal with that when it comes.
“Stuart McCall has been picking things up and getting some good results.
“Every week Alex Rae, my assistant at Genk, and myself tune in to watch Rangers.
“The stories over the last couple of years have made for very interesting reading.
“At the moment I am not looking into the future.”
