Aberdeen midfielder Barry Robson could be in the running for the vacant Arbroath job after Allan Moore’s sacking.
Moore paid the price for a disastrous run which included only one win in 16 matches.
Robson and former Dundee manager Barry Smith have been linked with the post.
The League Two side sit third, 13 points behind leaders Albion Rovers.
Arbroath chairman John Christison said: “There is a template for how someone like Barry Robson could work for us when you look at what Paul Sheerin did here as player-boss.
“He would be a brilliant addition to our playing squad as well as being manager but we don’t know his situation and you would have to consider if he would be interested or willing to take a massive cut to come here.”
