Franz Beckenbauer has suggested departing Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp could succeed Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich.
Klopp has confirmed he will leave Dortmund this summer after seven years in charge and Munich legend Beckenbauer believes he would be the ideal replacement for Guardiola.
Beckenbauer who made over 450 appearances for Munich and managed the German giants twice told Sky Sports: “Of course I could imagine Klopp as Guardiola’s successor.
“When I was president, we often talked about Klopp and believe he would fit very well at Bayern.
“Klopp is definitely an option at Bayern. The question is, how long Guardiola will be in Munich. I hope for a long time, but Klopp would be considered.”
Guardiola’s current deal runs until 2016 but Beckenbauer believes Klopp would need to wait until after then to take over at Munich, he continued: “I can’t imagine that Guardiola would leave in 2016. He likes Munich. He has had success with the team and he knows that he can succeed in the future. He has everything he wants.”
Klopp has won two Bundesliga titles in seven years but his team currrently sit eighth, while Bayern were crowned champions on Saturday.
