Celtic captain Scott Brown scored the only goal of the game as the Hoops made it four wins out of four over Aberdeen.
The Dons made a promising start to the match but fell behind four minutes after the restart when the Celtic skipper netted from close range after fine play by Stuart Armstrong.
The result extends champions Celtic’s lead at the top to 14 points with two matches remaining.
The Dons made two alterations from the team that lost 1-0 at Dundee United with Barry Robson returning from suspension at the expense of Willo Flood, while Kenny McLean was preferred to Peter Pawlett.
Celtic also made two changes with Darnell Fisher and Stuart Armstrong coming in for Efe Ambrose and Gary Mackay-Steven.
The Aberdeen players formed a guard of honour to clap the Celtic team on to the pitch in their first match since being confirmed as champions last weekend.
The Dons started on the front foot with their high-tempo, pressing game preventing Celtic settling in to their stride early on.
Robson almost produced a spectacular opener for the Reds after 11 minutes with a rasping drive that flew inches past the post, much to Craig Gordon’s relief.
Aberdeen’s encouraging start continued and again it was the former Celtic player Robson who found himself in the thick of the action, with another goal-bound effort blocked by Jason Denayer before he tested Gordon with a powerful free kick from the edge of the area.
Thirty-three minutes had elapsed before Celtic mustered their first attempt at goal, a weak effort from Scottish player of the year Stefan Johansen that trickled harmlessly wide.
The Dons almost undid their fine work soon after when Robson was dispossessed in midfield, allowing Emilio Izaguirre to send Johansen in on goal but the Norwegian was unable to find a way past Scott Brown in the Aberdeen goal.
Celtic made the breakthrough four minutes into the second half in a move that was started and finished by captain Brown.
The midfielder prevented Robson from shooting on goal with a brave tackle before launching a counter-attack which culminated with Stuart Armstrong skipping past two defenders before passing the ball across the face of goal for Brown to slide home.
It could have been worse for the Dons soon after when goalkeeper Brown was forced into a fine double save to deny Leigh Griffiths and then Kris Commons as the Hoops pressed for the decisive second.
The Dons worked their way back into the match and nearly drew level when Virgil van Dijk almost sliced the ball into his own net from a Hayes delivery.
And in the dying embers, Aberdeen substitute Lawrence Shankland nodded wide from close range when it looked easier to score.
