Ross County, Celtic, Hamilton Accies and even the world famous Tero Sasana are all making moves in the transfer market as they look to strengthen early ahead of the new season.
It’s a day of mixed news for Celtic, with moves for two of their top targets now looking unlikely while a third target could be on the verge of becoming a lot more available.
St Mirren are also closing in on the appointment of a new manager and are currently carrying out interviews with their preferred candidates…
Ian McShane
Ross County have agreed a fee with Queen of the South for midfielder Ian McShane.
The Staggies are now expected to hold talks with the player’s representatives in the coming days.
County previously had an offer rejected for McShane in the January transfer window but are confident of landing their man this summer.
Nadir Cifcti and John Souttar
Dundee United have offered new contracts to star duo Nadir Cifcti and John Souttar.
Celtic have been linked with moves for both players and Sunderland had a £600,000 bid rejected for Souttar in January while Everton and QPR are also said to be chasing his signature and Rotherham are reported to be monitoring Ciftci’s situation.
Jonathan Mensah
Celtic bid to sign Ghana international Jonathan Mensah has been ended by FIFA, according to a report in today’s Daily Record.
The governing body have suspended the 24-year-old for four months following a breach-of-contract case with Udinese.
Mitchell Dijks
Celtic’s hopes of signing Willem II full-back Mitchell Dijks have also suffered a blow with the 22-year-old holding signing talks with Feyenoord, according to the Daily Record, while Inside Futbol reveal that Ajax are also now looking to sign the left back.
Zouhair Feddal
In slightly better news for Celtic… Another Parkhead target could soon be joining the dole queue and seeking new employment.
Morocco defender Zouhair Feddal, reportedly a target for the Hoops, could find himself a free agent if his club, bankrupt Parma, fail to find a buyer this summer, according to Inside Futbol.
Teemu Pukki
And in possibly more good news for the Hoops… Brondby coach Thomas Frank is looking to make Teemu Pukki’s loan switch permanent.
The Finnish striker has spent the season on loan at Brondby, scoring seven goals in 24 matches.
Leigh Griffiths
Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths, subject of a £1million bid from English Championship side Leeds United, insists he wants to stay at Parkhead and will reject any move south of the border, according to the Daily Mail.
Christian Nade
Christian Nade could be on the verge of signing for his fourth Scottish club after joining Hamilton Accies on trial.
The former France under-21 international spent this season with Raith Rovers and has previously played for Hearts and Dundee.
SPFL players to Thailand
Three Scottish based players could be plying their trade in Thailand next season after Kenny Sheils’ appointment as Tero Sasana manager.
The Times report that Sheils is looking to make Kilmarnock midfielder Alexei Eremenko, Rangers winger Barrie McKay and St Mirren loanee James Dayton his first signings in Thai football.
Stephen O’Donnell
Partick Thistle defender Stephen O’Donnell is reportedly a target for a number of English clubs .
The 23-year-old full back is attracting interest from clubs in both the English Championship and League One and is expected to move on this summer.
St Mirren manager latest
St Mirren are reportedly holding interviews today as they close in on appointing a new manager.
Current boss Gary Teale is in the frame to retain the job but he faces stiff competition from Dumbarton manager Ian Murray, Brechin’s Ray McKinnon, former Notts County gaffer Ian McParland and ex Ross County boss Derek Adams.
