Ross County manager Jim McIntyre says there was no room for sentiment when extending the contracts of three supporters’ favourites.
Defender Scott Boyd and midfielder Michael Gardyne agreed two-year deals last Wednesday, just days after midfielder Rocco Quinn signed a one-year extension.
All three are stalwarts of the Dingwall club, having been part of the County side which reached the top-flight for the first time by winning the First Division title in 2012.
McIntyre, who recently released captain Richard Brittain after seven years with the Dingwall club, insisted previous accomplishments were immaterial as he shapes his squad for next season.
McIntyre said: “It’s all about what they do on the pitch rather than being favourites with the supporters, although that helps.
“Michael gets the supporters off their seats. He is dynamic and exciting. When we came in, we asked Michael to be more consistent and we have seen, in the last six months especially, how he’s put consistent performances together. That’s great credit to him for taking that on board.
“Scott has got better and better as the season went on. That will take him to 10 years at the club, which is fantastic. It rarely happens in the modern game, so he deserves that. He’s been through every part of the club’s success and been a main part of the club and a mainstay in this team.
“His performances have merited his new contract.
“Rocco was one of the easier ones to sign up. It has been a tough year for him, with his hip injury. But we wanted to get him back involved and in the last few games of the season he did really well.
“He can enjoy his summer now and look forward to next season, having fully recovered from his hip operation.”
