Formartine United manager Kris Hunter last night continued his signing spree by landing 23-year-old attacker Scott Barbour from his former club Fraserburgh on a four-year deal.
Hunter has also secured the signature of Isthmian League Premier Division player, 6ft 5in former Bognor Regis Town defender Stuart Axton, on a three-year contract, bringing Formartine’s summer signing tally to nine.
Hunter said: “Scott is the most exciting player in the league, I know him better than most as I brought him back to the Broch after they had released him and he was playing in the juniors for Buchanhaven Hearts.
“He is a great talent who scored 25 goals last term and 38 the season before. He can play in a variety of positions but wherever he plays he is always a threat and is an exciting player who likes to take on opposing players. Scott wants to come and play for me again, and I am keen to give him the chance.”
Barbour is looking forward to reuniting with his former Broch manager at North Lodge Park, when he said: “Kris made me the player I am. I signed for the Broch when I was 17 but I left as I wasn’t enjoying it and went to the juniors. But Kris took me back and when, he left to join Formartine last season, I was disappointed – it’s great to be back playing for him.”
