Ross County manager Jim McIntyre sought the advice of Dundee manager Paul Hartley before opting to take the Staggies on a pre-season tour of Hungary.
County travel next Sunday for a week-long training camp at the Globall Football Park near Budapest, a facility used by the Hungarian national team.
Hartley is taking his Dundee side to the same training centre for the second year running having been impressed by the facility last season, and McIntyre says the trip comes highly recommended by the former Scotland midfielder.
McIntyre said: “We’re going to a fantastic facility. I spoke to Paul Hartley and his assistant Gerry McCabe, who were there last year, and they say it’s second to none.
“They said the pitches were superb, with a spa facility. We’ll get two sessions in each day, we’ll work hard and play against good opposition as well which is important.”
County begin their pre-season preparations with a game at Highland League side Nairn County on Wednesday, before taking on Elgin City at Borough Briggs next Saturday.
The Staggies travel to Hungary the following day and during their trip, the Dingwall side will play two friendly matches, against Soroksar SC of the Hungarian third tier on Tuesday, July 14 and Second Division side Szolnoki MAV on Friday, July 17.
McIntyre is also keen to schedule a further fixture for the final weekend before the Staggies open their Premiership campaign with a trip to champions Celtic on August 1.
Having added 10 new faces to his squad, the Staggies manager is pleased with the way his side is shaping up for the new season.
McIntyre added: “We’re playing against good opposition. With no disrespect to the teams we’ll play first, we need to try to step our opposition up.
“We’re still waiting on getting a game confirmed for the last weekend of July.”
