UEFA have launched disciplinary proceedings against Aberdeen’s Europa League opponents Shkendija after home supporters aimed a laser at Dons goalkeeper Danny Ward during last week’s 1-1 draw in Skopje.
The 22-year-old had a laser shone in his direction while trying to defend a corner in the first period and when he saved a Besart Ibraimi free kick early in the second half.
Aberdeen contacted Uefa about the incident following the match at Philip II Arena in the Macedonian capital.
Uefa confirmed that the case will be dealt with later this month.
A spokesman said: “Disciplinary proceedings have been opened against Shkendija for use of laser pointer – Art. 16 (2) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations.
“This case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on its next meeting on 23 July.”
In 2008, Uefa fined Lyon £2,500 after lasers were aimed at Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo in a Champions League match.
