Shkendija attacker Hristijan Kirovski believes his club can make history against Aberdeen tomorrow.
The Macedonians have never won a European tie but having claimed a draw at home to Aberdeen last weekend the club is daring to dream of success in tomorrow’s Europa League first qualifying round second leg at Pittodrie.
Kirovski said: “Aberdeen are the favourites because they have the away goal and home advantage, but we are heading there in relaxed mood and we have prepared ourselves.
“The first 20 minutes in Aberdeen will be the most important but if we can start well we can set the tempo of the game and give ourselves a chance.
“I think we have a chance and if we get the first goal we can go through.”
The tall forward came off the bench to score the equaliser for the Macedonians in Skopje last Thursday and having dominated the second half against Derek McInnes’ side Kirovski has revealed confidence is high in coach Shpetim Duro’s squad.
Kirovski believes all the pressure is on Aberdeen as his side tries to end the Dons European hopes at the first hurdle.
He said: “We know we are still in the tie. We showed we were well prepared physically and mentally and we deserved to take something from the game. We should have won it and had we lost the it would have been unjust and undeserved.”
Coach Shpetim Duro is harbouring a sense of injustice at not being awarded a penalty in Skopje in the first leg.
He said: “I usually don’t comment but we were denied a clear penalty and if we had won the game the whole outlook for the second leg would be completely different.
“But it was still a great result for us considering we were playing the second best team from the Scottish Premiership.”
