Ross County defender Chris Robertson is a doubt for the start of the Premiership season after suffering a broken bone in his hand during the Staggies’ pre-season tour of Hungary.
Robertson, who joined County from English League 1 side Port Vale on a two-year contract, missed the 1-1 draw against Hungarian third-tier side Soroksar SC on Tuesday after suffering the injury in training.
Manager Jim McIntyre was reluctant to put a timescale on the 28-year-ild’s recovery, but said: “Chris’ injury has put a bit of a dampener on things. We’ve put a cast on his hand as a precaution and we’ll have a look at it again when we come home.
“It’s a similar hand injury to the one Tony Dingwall had last season.
“Tony also missed the game. He trained in the morning but was suffering from shin splints.”
McIntyre was pleased with his side’s showing in the opening match of the Staggies’ trip to Hungary, with Michael Gardyne’s second-half penalty earning the Dingwall side a 1-1 draw after Tamas Huszak had given Soroksar a first-half lead with a spot-kick.
McIntyre added: “Our opponents had very good movement in the first-half, but the penalty they got in the first half was never a penalty, our goalkeeper Scott Fox never touched the player. It was pretty embarrassing the referee gave it, and our penalty was quite soft as well.
“However the trip is going well. It’s a fantastic place to do our work on great pitches, and the weather is excellent.”
