Ross County’s search for a new goalkeeper continues after manager Jim McIntyre confirmed there will be no deal for trialist Jonathan Henly.
Former Reading goalkeeper Henly travelled with the Staggies on their pre-season tour of Hungary last week, playing in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat against Szolnoki MAV.
McIntyre is looking for another goalkeeper to provide competition for Scott Fox, who was signed from Partick Thistle earlier in the summer.
Henly, 21, will not be the man, with McIntyre saying: “We’ve decided not to offer Jonathan a contract, so the search goes on.
“We’ve got a young goalkeeper, Mark Foden, that we’ll use just now but there are options available at the moment and we’ll pursue them.”
As well as a goalkeeper, McIntyre is keen to add a central midfielder and a forward before the end of the transfer window.
County’s squad is already much-changed, with McIntyre bringing nine new signings to Victoria Park.
Despite the opening game of the Premiership being just 10 days away, with County facing champions Celtic at Parkhead, McIntyre is in no rush to make fresh additions and added: “I said before we went away to Hungary that I would like to add another three players – and that hasn’t changed.
“Looking around the league, all the teams are still trying to recruit the right type of players.
“It’s very important when we are recruiting new players that we do not panic and we make sure we are getting the right players in.
“If they’re not available at the moment, we’ve got to show patience.
“We know exactly the type of player we’re looking for in each position.
“It’s important that we make sure we’re getting exactly what we want.
“Sometimes that can be difficult to accomplish and it can mean having to wait.”
