Aberdeen and Celtic players stand for the minute's silence for Remembrance Sunday
A Celtic fan has been fined after shouting and swearing during the minutes silence before a Remembrance Sunday game against Aberdeen.
Christopher O’Hagan breached the peace and hit a fellow fan on the head just before kick-off when the hoops visited Pittodrie on November 9 last year.
The 33-year-old, from Coatbridge, pleaded guilty to the offences when he appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today.
Dons fans booed loudly at Pittodrie after chanting was heard coming from the away stand during the mark of respect.
And police said two men had been arrested following a “minor disturbance” in the away end. Hagan pleaded guilty to conducting himself in a “disorderly manner” and striking Charles Tinney.
Fiscal depute Cheryl Clark’s request for a football banning order was refused by Sheriff Edward Savage.
Instead the sheriff fined O’Hagan £630.
After the game, which Celtic won 2-1 to go top of the league, Hoops manager Ronny Deila said it was “disappointing” that a minority of fans had been disrespectful.
