Celtic are competing with one English club to sign an African defender, while battling with another to keep their current African centre half.
Elsewhere, two members of Rangers squad from last season have been linked with moves – one for a fair bit of money, the other to the bottom flight of Scottish football.
Down in England, Premier League new boys Watford have added two new players, while Bayern Munich seem concerned they could lose another player to Manchester United.

- Celtic are competing with Sunderland for the signature of Nantes defender Papy Djilobodji.
The 26-year-old 6ft 4in Senegal defender was previously reportedly a target for Chelsea. (L’Equipe)
- Celtic have rejected a bid from Bolton for Nigerian defender Efe Ambrose.
Bolton boss Neil Lennon signed Ambrose for the Parkhead side and is now looking for him to join his English Championship club. (Various)
- Former Rangers man Ian Black could be set for a shock move… to League Two side Berwick Rangers.
The midfielder was released by the Ibrox club at the end of the season and last night turned out for Berwick as a trialist in a friendly against Junior outfit Haddington Athletic. (Evening Times)

- Former Rangers defender Bilel Mohsni has been offered a three-year deal which would see him earn not far short of £1million.
The Tunisian defender has reportedly been offered the £281,000 a year contract in his homeland with top flight side, Africain. (Daily Record)
- Former Hearts midfielder Jason Holt is on the verge of completing a move to Rangers after the two clubs agreed a compensation fee, believed to be around £65,000. (The Scotsman)
- Mark Warburton has refused to comment on Rangers’ apparent interest in Hibs midfielder Scott Allan.
The Ibrox boss was questioned on the issue last night but said: “Scott Allan is a Hibernian player and I think it’s really disrespectful for any manager to talk about another team’s player, if I’m honest with you.
“So, from my point of view, we focus on what we have here and see what happens in the coming days.” (The Scotsman)
- Former Aberdeen and Cardiff defender Kevin McNaughton is on trial at English League One side Wigan Athletic.
McNaughton, 32, played with Wigan manager Gary Caldwell 17 years ago, for Scotland Under-15s.

- Dumbarton have agreed terms with striker Steven Craig, 34, after he left Wycombe Wanderers – the forward is expected to complete his move this weekend.
