Aberdeen’s Premiership season kicks off at 3.30pm this afternoon as the Dons take on Dundee United at Tannadice.
The two teams met on the opening day of last season when the Arabs left Pittodrie with a 3-0 win courtesy of goals from Ryan Dow, Gary Mackay-Steven and Chris Erskine but Dons boss Derek McInnes insists his team have learnt from that and will not make the same mistakes today.
The game is the Dons’ sixth competitive match of the season following their Europa League exploits, while this afternoon is United’s first competitive match since the loss of Radoslaw Ciernziak, Jaroslaw Fojut and Nadir Ciftci.
Dons defender Mark Reynolds will miss the game through injury while United trio Ryan Dow, Callum Morris and Paul Paton are all doubts after picking up knocks in pre-season.
