Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes hopes the supporters will fill Pittodrie for a memorable European night tomorrow.
More than 18,000 tickets have already been bought by supporters hoping their team can overturn a 2-1 first leg defeat by Kairat Almaty in Kazakhstan and book a place in the Europa League play-off round.
Kenny McLean’s crucial away goal in Almaty means a 1-0 win would be enough for McInnes’ men to be in the hat for Friday’s draw.
But the Aberdeen manager believes the supporters can play their part in helping create a night to remember.
The match in Kazakhstan was played in front of a 23,000 sellout crowd – Kairat’s crowd for league matches is between 6,000 and 10,000 – and McInnes said: “It has all the makings of a great European night, but we will only make it memorable by winning and getting through.
“We want to make it special and we will certainly be giving it our all to make the tie go our way.
“We said to the players at the team hotel before the Dundee United match on Sunday to give it everything and concentrate fully as we knew the level of support that was going to the match.
“They were up for the match and they needed to see their team was up for the match as well.
“The supporters recognised what the players gave on Sunday and it was great to send them home happy.”
The Dons could have been forgiven for a jaded performance at Tannadice on Sunday after their 6,830-mile round trip to Kazakhstan, believed to be the longest distance travelled by a team in a European competition – until Kairat made the return trip via Moscow.
But the Dons showed little signs of fatigue to defeat Jackie McNamara’s men on Sunday thanks to a late McLean header.
The only slight negative for McInnes was that his side did not make more of their set-piece opportunities against the Arabs – but felt the lack of preparation time due to their Europa League commitments was a contributory factor.
He added: “We had only managed to work on them the day before but they were disappointing.
“They gave away a lot of free kicks and we had a lot of opportunities to put the ball in the box, but there was never really enough threat from us.
“That is something we have to improve as we were the second highest scorers from set-plays last season and we will look to better that again.”
