POLL: Should Scott Allan join Rangers or Celtic or stay at Hibs?

Scott Allan is wanted by both sides of the Old Firm but should he go to Glasgow or stay at Easter Road?
Scott Allan is wanted by both sides of the Old Firm but should he go to Glasgow or stay at Easter Road?

Rangers have spent the summer chasing Hibs midfielder Scott Allan. The Ibrox club have submitted three bids for the 23-year-old, the Easter Road club have rejected those three bids for the 23-year old.

Allan, himself,  has rejected the chance of a move down south to Rotherham and now, just to complicate matters further, Celtic have joined the chase for the Hibs midfielder’s signature.

It is clear Allan has bundles of talent, that talent got him a move from Dundee United to West Brom at the age of 20 and last season that undoubted talent saw him named Championship player of the year in his first season back in Scotland.

Allan also showed his talent while earning his 10 caps for Scotland Under-21s but where would he be best nurturing that talent?

3 reasons Scott Allan should stay at Hibs

  • Last summer Hibs gave Allan the chance to kickstart his career – the least he owes them is one season worth of loyalty.
  • Allan is the focal point of any Hibs moves, this Hibs team gets the best out of Allan, while he gets the best out of Hibs. He cannot guarantee the same chemistry if he was to move elsewhere.
  • Allan will play every week and could could guide the Hibees to the Championship title – last season they finished three points ahead of Rangers and manager Alan Stubbs believes his squad can do the same again this this season.

3 reasons Scott Allan should join Rangers

  • The opening week of the season saw Rangers thrash Hibs 6-2 at Easter Road in the Petrofac Training Cup – obviously we should not read too much into one result but that result along with the new ownership, manager and players at Ibrox suggest Rangers should have enough to beat Hibs to the title. Allan could join Rangers now and be a driving force in Mark Warburton’s Rangers revolution.
  • Allan has previously stated that he was a Rangers fan – surely he should grab the chance to sign for his boyhood club?
  • Obviously we want our footballers to play for the love of the game but lets be honest – Allan could earn a fair bit more cash if he moved from the east to the west.

3 reasons Scott Allan should join Celtic

  • Joining the Parkhead club would potentially give Allan the chance to play at the top level of club football – the Champions League. Surely every player aspires to play at the highest possible level?
  • Moving to Celtic would give Allan the chance to play and train alongside superior players, in turn helping his own development. Kris Commons and Stefan Johansen play in similar roles to the 23-year-old and could certainly help develop his game.
  • As well as looking to play at the highest level in club football, a move to Celtic, to play alongside Scotland stars Craig Gordon, Scott Brown, James Forrest, Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven would also boost Allan’s international chances.
