Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has confirmed his interest in Red Star Belgrade forward Josh Parker, but will not panic buy before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
McInnes has funds available to strengthen his squad and confirmed Parker is one of a number of players under consideration.
The 24-year-old, born in Slough, has 16 caps for Antigua and Barbuda.
After beginning his career with Queens Park Rangers he had spells with Oxford United and Oldham Athletic before moving to Slovenian side Domzale in June 2013. After a year and a half in the Slovenian First League, he moved to Serbian SuperLiga side Red Star Belgrade on a two-year deal.
The Aberdeen manager said: “Josh is one of a few players who have been put to us over the last while. He is a player that we’re aware of, but there is nothing imminent on it.
“I’ve got a budget to work with and I have a little bit left over if I feel the need to spend and we think we can bring somebody in.
“We still have a couple of games to go before the window closes so we will see how we are after those games.
“We will keep looking and keep our ear to the ground to see what is available.
“For the moment, I am really happy with how the squad has come together. I think we have put together a really strong, competitive squad with the budget we have.
“If the window was to close tomorrow I wouldn’t be too unhappy at all.
“Just because we have a little bit left to work with does not mean we will necessarily have to use it.”
Peters could be signed on loan to cover for the possible loss of attacker Lawrence Shankland, who is wanted by Championship club St Mirren.
The ankle injury suffered in training by Peter Pawlett is not as bad as first feared but the midfielder will miss the trip to Fir Park to face Motherwell tomorrow.
Defender Mark Reynolds (shoulder) is the only other absentee for the Dons.
McInnes said: “Peter has been scanned and X-rayed. There is no structural damage to the ankle but he has got severe bruising and he won’t travel.
“Depending on how the ankle settles, he may miss next Saturday against Dundee as well.”
