Peterhead forward Rory McAllister was delighted to score all five goals to dump Championship side Falkirk out of the Petrofac Training Cup.
The Blue Toon ran out 5-3 winners against last season’s Scottish Cup finalists at the Falkirk Stadium, but McAllister said his five-goal haul could not top scoring the winner in a 2-1 victory against Rangers at Ibrox two years ago.
He said: “That is the first time I have scored five goals in one match, but the most important thing was to get the win and get through to the next round.
“Sometimes you get days when it feels like nothing is going to go in but this was the opposite, which was nice. It was just one of those freak games but I will take it as I didn’t have such a good season last year.
“I have made a good start to the season, which is pleasing and it would be great to get a nice run in this competition.
“That is up there with the highlights of my career, although it doesn’t quite beat scoring the winner against Rangers at Ibrox.”
McAllister has been praised by the Peterhead management team for improving his fitness levels over the close season and the forward has credited playing tennis with team-mate Ryan Strachan for helping sharpening up his game.
He added: “I have been working hard on getting in shape. I am playing a lot of tennis with Ryan and that seems to be working. We play once a week for two hours, he is really good and much better than me.
“I am the one that is doing all the running which is probably why I am getting so fit.”
