Sheffield Wednesday forward Stevie May looks set to sign for Preston North End.
May made 44 appearances for Wednesday last season, scoring nine goals, however, he has yet to feature for the Owls this season and the two clubs are believed to have agreed a permanent deal for the forward.
Preston are believed to have offered an initial fee of £800,000 with a number of future add-ons.
May has been pushed down the pecking order at Hillsborough by Wednesday’s 15 summer signings as the Owls desperately push for promotion back to the Premier League.
The 22-year-old scored 27 goals in 49 games for St Johnstone in his final season in Scotland and a number of Scottish clubs had looked to take the striker on loan this summer, however, no clubs north of the border could afford his wages and it looks like Preston have now won the race for his signature.
