Peterhead manager Jim McInally wants his players to be more streetwise when they face Cowdenbeath this weekend.
The Blue Toon were far from their best as they were held to a 1-1 draw against newly-promoted Albion Rovers last Saturday.
McInally wants a better showing against second-bottom Cowdenbeath, who have claimed only three points from their opening five matches.
He said: “In the first half last week I felt we played as well as we have been playing. We were possibly a bit naïve as we were playing into a heavy wind in the first half.
“We went 1-0 up but instead of settling for the lead at half time we kept pushing forward for a second and got caught on the counterattack.
“That changed the outcome of the game as Albion Rovers were able to sit in and play on the counter after that.
“The one positive from last weekend was that we managed to take a point when we weren’t at our best but we know we need to be winning our home games to get where we want to be.
“This is a ruthless league and if you are not at it then every team has players who can hurt you.”
McInally has warned his players not to underestimate the Blue Brazil, despite their poor start to the campaign.
He added: “They have got Andy Murdoch, from Rangers, Declan Hughes, from St Mirren, Greig Spence up front and Colin Nish might play.
“If we are not at our best then they have players with enough experience to punish us.”
