Ross County manager Jim McIntyre is wary of a Dundee backlash when the Staggies travel to Dens Park for today’s Premiership encounter.
The Dark Blues have won just one of their last five matches, with Paul Hartley’s side thrashed 6-0 by champions Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday.
Dundee are just three points behind the fourth-placed Staggies and McIntyre reckons the Tayside outfit will be determined to put last weekend’s disappointment behind them by pulling level with his side.
McIntyre said: “They are a tough team to play. They have goals in their side and good, clever footballers.
“They will be all the more dangerous having lost heavily at Parkhead.
“The incentive is there to go level on points with us also, so we know we are going to face a team that is very determined.
“We’ve all been on the end of results like that and been desperate to bounce back. It will be another difficult match for us.”
County have started their own campaign in excellent fashion and, having lost just twice all season, they go into today’s match on the back of a fine run of five wins from their last six matches.
The latest was a 7-0 win against Falkirk in the League Cup on Tuesday but McIntyre has also been pleased by his side’s ability to win ugly.
McIntyre added: “We know why we’re getting results and it is important we keep it going. We’ve shown a side to us where we can win in different ways.
“I was delighted with the performance against Falkirk. We scored some great goals.
“For me, what set that up was how hard we worked to put Falkirk under pressure. Then you get your chances – and we’ve been ruthless in taking a large percentage of those we created.
“Without the best of performances last Saturday, though, we ground out the win against Partick Thistle, so we’ll just take it as it comes.
“I don’t think anyone in the dressing-room would get carried away. They won’t be allowed to be, it’s as simple as that.”
