Ross County manager Jim McIntyre feels his forwards could not be in better form going into this weekend’s Highland derby against Caley Thistle.
Only Aberdeen and Celtic have conceded fewer goals than the Staggies this season but McIntyre has enjoyed plenty of cause for satisfaction with his side’s prowess in the final third.
County have averaged three goals per game during September, helped in no small part by a 7-0 thrashing of Falkirk in the League Cup.
Strangely, all 15 of County’s goals in the league this season have come in the first half, including the three they netted in Saturday’s 3-3 draw against Dundee at Dens Park.
This weekend’s meeting between Ross County and Caley Thistle, who defeated Premiership leaders Aberdeen 2-1 at the weekend, has the makings of an exciting encounter, with both teams in good form in recent weeks.
Northern Irishman Liam Boyce has been the main talisman for the fifth-placed Staggies with 10 goals in eight matches but McIntyre has been content with the contribution made by all of his attacking players.
The Ross County manager said: “We are delighted with how many goals we have been scoring. We are a major threat, there is no two ways about it.
“We certainly know how to get in the right areas and we have been very clinical when we create chances.
“When we went down to 10 men against Dundee after Andrew Davies was sent off it became tough. But you will take a point away from home in the Scottish Premiership when you have played with 10 men for most of the second half. I would take that all day long.
“We did the same at Dens last year when we went down to 10 men after only six minutes. We had to react to going down to 10 men on Saturday and I felt the reaction from my players was fantastic.
“We dug in and showed really battling qualities to hold on and keep our unbeaten run going.”
Midfielder Martin Woods could miss this weekend’s visit of John Hughes’ Inverness.
The former Shrewsbury Town player, now in his second spell with the Staggies, was substituted at half-time on Saturday because of a knee injury.
McIntyre added: “He opened up his knee a little bit. It was his medial ligament. It is too early to put a timescale on it, we will just have to see how it is.”
