Ross County are searching for goalkeeping cover after Scott Fox was ruled out for at least two months with ankle ligament damage.
Fox was stretchered off after 63 minutes of the Staggies’ 2-1 Highland derby defeat by Caley Thistle on Saturday, with manager Jim McIntyre confirming the former Partick Thistle goalkeeper faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
County’s only fit senior goalkeeper at present is Englishman Gary Woods, who is on loan from Leyton Orient and made his debut as Fox’s replacement in the loss to Inverness.
McIntyre is confident Woods can step up to the mark but the Staggies manager will be seeking a short-term option to provide further cover.
He said: “We will look to get another goalkeeper in. Scott is looking at two months out at least as he’s done his ankle ligaments.
“He has been fantastic for us but Gary is a good goalkeeper as well and has been waiting patiently for his chance.
“That’s the game we’re in – someone else’s misfortune is a chance and now Gary can show what he can do.
“There are no worries there at all, he has good experience and we’re pleased he can come in.”
With Premiership action on hold due to the international break, McIntyre is hopeful Martin Woods (knee), Rocco Quinn (hamstring) and Craig Curran (head knock) will return to training ahead of the Dingwall side’s next game against league leaders Aberdeen a week on Friday.
McIntyre added: “Martin is coming along well, hopefully he’ll resume training some time next week. Rocco will start jogging this week and Craig will as well.
“Hopefully everything goes to plan with those three and we’ve got more to select from.”
