Ross County manager Jim McIntyre says the addition of Dutch forward Alex Schalk was necessary due to the absence of Craig Curran through concussion.
Schalk yesterday agreed to sign for the Staggies until the end of the season after impressing during a trial.
The 23-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Dutch side Go Ahead Eagles in the summer. He began his career with Breda and has four Holland under-21 caps.
The Staggies manager says his hunt was fast-tracked by the injury sustained by English forward Curran, who is still sidelined having experienced dizzy spells since suffering a head knock in the 4-0 win against Kilmarnock in August, although he is set to return to light training this week.
