Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes hopes his side can kick-start another winning run with a victory over Dundee United this weekend.
October proved to be a month to forget for the Dons as they allowed a five-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to slip as their winless run increased to six matches.
The Dons face New Firm rivals United on Saturday at Pittodrie, with Mixu Paatelainen’s men in buoyant mood after picking up their first league win since early August with a 1-0 victory against Ross County at the weekend.
McInnes’ Reds are seeking a first win since the middle of September after losing 3-1 against Celtic at Parkhead on Saturday.
Despite their recent poor run, the Dons are three points better off than they were at the same stage last year.
The Aberdeen manager believes his side is capable of rediscovering the form that saw them start the season with eight consecutive victories.
A 2-1 defeat by Celtic at Pittodrie last November sparked a 13-game unbeaten run that pushed the Dons back into a title race with the Hoops and McInnes sees no reason why his team can’t do the same this season.
He said: “The answers we are looking for are in the building as we have good players and we will win games.
“It is important we use the fact that we have more points than we did at this stage last year. But at the same time we obviously aren’t happy with the last month’s work.
“We have to make sure that we achieve a better set of results this month and next month.
“We are more than capable of going on these runs as we have shown in the past couple of seasons.
“We are determined to get winning again and we will try to help the players as much as we can to achieve exactly that.”
The Dons have been handed an injury boost ahead of this weekend’s match against United with Andrew Considine available for selection.
The 28-year-old defender was substituted 23 minutes into Saturday’s match at Celtic Park after a clash of heads with Hoops defender Dedryck Boyata.
McInnes said: “Andy will be fine for the weekend. He trained without any problems on Monday and Tuesday and we are pleased to have him back available as he is an important player for us.”
