Peterhead midfielder Jamie Redman knows there can be no repeat of his side’s lethargic defensive display of last weekend when they travel to Dunfermline today.
The Blue Toon eased into a 3-0 lead inside 40 minutes at Stenhousemuir, but conceded a goal before a second half collapse allowed the Warriors to win the game 4-3.
The manner of the capitulation has lingered at Balmoor this week but Redman knows he and his team-mates cannot be so generous against the Pars.
He said: “It’s been quite a hard game for us to digest.
“To be 3-0 up after 40 minutes and then lose was extremely disappointing to say the least, and it has certainly been harder to brush off.
“The consequence of not winning has stuck in our minds this week as we know we should have taken something from the game.
“You don’t expect to be three goals in front and come away with nothing from the match.”
With title-challenging Dunfermline eager to gain revenge for their loss at Balmoor back in August Redman knows his side will have to match the motivation and application of the Pars this afternoon.
He said: “The one good thing about facing Dunfermline is that it has focused us as we know if we defend as a team the same way we did last week at 3-0 up we’ll be in real trouble at East End Park.
“It is clear improvements are needed but it’s not all doom and gloom.
“We’ve shown we can score goals and what happened last week at Stenhousemuir was not like us.
“We’ve got good, strong players at this club and if we perform as we can we can match Dunfermline in this game.”
