Rangers boss Mark Warburton is reportedly looking to sign the son of former Aberdeen attacker Dean Windass, however, the Gers boss faces a fight to get his man.
Josh Windass has been in sparkling form for Accrington Stanley this season, netting ten goals in 20 games and attracting plenty of interest.
Rangers are reported to be at the front of the queue as Warburton tries to add to his attacking options but Stanley boss John Coleman is adamant his star man won’t be leaving the League Two club next month.
He told the Evening Times: “No-one’s going in January. I could be setting myself up for the biggest egg on my face ever here if someone does go, but I believe what I’m doing is right so we’ll get on with it.
“I find it quite funny to be honest because there have been one or two comments and people have been telling us what we’re going to do.
“What they’re trying to say is that my statement saying no-one is leaving in January is a load of nonsense. Well we’ll see in January.”
Josh’s father, Dean, moved to Pittodrie for £700,000 in 1995 and spent three seasons with the Dons.
