Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes will have no hesitation in changing his winning team to accommodate fit-again captain Ryan Jack.
The midfielder, pictured, is in the squad for tomorrow’s lunchtime kick-off at Dundee after recovering from an ankle injury which has kept him out of the last two matches against Hamilton and Ross County.
A strong second-half showing helped the Dons recover from 1-0 down to beat the Staggies at Pittodrie last weekend, but McInnes is ready to pitch his captain back into the team at Dens Park.
He said: “Ryan trained with the team and if there is no reaction then he will be in the squad for Dundee.
“All the players are important but Ryan is someone we have a high
regard for and we will just be happy to have him available.
“He helps us control games as he handles the ball well, is a good competitor and the players look up to him.
“It’s a good problem to have but every game is different and we will pick what we think is the best team to win the game on Saturday.
“We have changed winning teams before – it’s all about getting it right against the opposition.”
Jack’s ability to control a game is what McInnes believes his side lacked in the first-half display against County last week.
A rousing second-half performance, however, resulted in his side taking all three points and the Aberdeen manager has called on his players to
continue where they left off at Pittodrie when they travel to Dens Park.
He said: “To win a half 3-0 against Ross County isn’t easy and we should take the confidence from it by recognising why we did it.
“I think we arguably still had the best chances in the first half last week, but Ross County imposed themselves on us.
“At times we caused ourselves bother but we managed to get the game going our way on the second half and got the goals.
“We have to show similar qualities now as we are always a better team when we stop the opposition playing.”
While Jack is in the squad, midfielder Barry Robson will miss out with an ankle injury while attacker Josh Parker is rated doubtful with a knee injury.
