Defender Graeme Shinnie is confident his team can put together another winning run to match the one which took the Dons to the top of the Premiership.
The Dons won the opening eight games of the campaign to take a five point lead at the top of division, but a poor run of two wins in the next eight games resulted them falling seven points behind champions Celtic.
Shinnie, pictured, believes the recovery process is underway after last Saturday’s 3-1 win against Ross County and with confidence returning the former Caley Thistle full back is targeting another winning run.
He said: “Winning streaks are important in this league which is why we want to build on the Ross County win by beating Dundee.
“We’re back up in second spot and we want to keep it.
“We’ve got the squad to put together a run like we did at the start of the season and we have the belief as well.
“Things were going for us when we were on the winning run, that didn’t happen when we were not doing so well.
“There were games where we know we didn’t play well enough, but we have always had belief we could bounce back.
“A few of the players in the team would admit to losing form and it is in those situations where we find our character being tested.
“We’ve been better in the last few games, but it is up to us to try to build on it now and put another winning run together.”
Dundee stand between Aberdeen and back to back wins for the first time since September 20 and with the Dark Blues having drawn five of the last six games Shinnie knows the Dons will need to play well to win at Dens Park today.
But with one win in Dundee under his belt already this season following the opening day win at Dundee United, the Dons defender wants another.
He said: “Dundee have played well in some games, but had a lot more draws than they would have wanted.
“They have recruited well in the summer and have some good players.
“If they are on their game we will need to be at the top of ours to cancel them out.
“They are a tough team to play against at any time and Dens Park has been a hard place to play in my career. We just need to make sure our standards are high and that we are a solid unit.
“It’s up to us to stop their front three and nullify their threat. If we can do that we can let Jonny Hayes, Niall McGinn and Adam Rooney do their thing at the other end. We will work off each other and hopefully it will pay off with a win.”
