Breaking a club record is not a priority for St Johnstone in Dingwall this afternoon, according to defender Brian Easton.
Victory against Ross County would make it the seventh away win in a row for Tommy Wright’s side, taking them past the mark Paul Sturrock’s promotion team of the 1990s managed.
The motivation for the Perth men is extending the gap between themselves and Jim McIntyre’s team to nine points, and keeping on the coat-tails of Aberdeen and Hearts.
“With records it’s a nice thing when you’ve done it, but it’s not in our minds just now,” Easton said.
“Ross County aren’t far behind us and we want to put daylight between us and them. We also want to keep the pressure on Hearts and Aberdeen.
“It’s a tough place to go. We’ve been beaten there before and we’ve won there as well. It’s hard to predict how it will go but it’s a game we’re out to win with the form we’re in.
“There’s been a lot of talk about us putting pressure on Hearts and Aberdeen but we’re still aware there are good teams below us. We can’t rest because a poor run of form would see the gap closing.”
Wright added: “So I am not bothered about the record. We just see it as a chance to get three points against a good side – a side which, in the calendar year, might actually have gained more points than us or even Aberdeen.
“They have been magnificent. They have done a great job up there.
“Jim McIntyre has said we are the standard bearers because of what we have achieved over the last few years and that is a nice compliment. But I look at them and see similarities.
“They have got experienced players, work hard and have quality. It is going to be a difficult game, it always is up there. But we have to make sure we keep the unbeaten run going.”
