Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes reckons his club’s supporters are getting a raw deal from the latest round of rescheduled
fixtures.
believes more consideration should be shown to supporters when rearranging fixtures for television purposes.
Five Aberdeen matches in the new year have been moved, including away games at Inverness Caley Thistle, Ross County and Partick Thistle.
Dons supporters intending to travel to Dingwall for the match against County will face an early start with the game kicking off at 12.15pm on Sunday, January 17.
The club’s supporters were also unhappy to discover they will face two away games in the space of four days with a trip to Inverness on Monday, February 15 followed by an away match at Partick Thistle on Friday, February 19.
McInnes said: “There has to be a care our supporters are not taken for granted.
“If we are going to have midweek games or rescheduling then it works better when the clubs are closer. It then gives everyone the chance to get to the game. Inverness isn’t exactly round the corner and a lot of our supporters can’t get there on a Monday night.
“We are putting the supporters out – who are the most important people.
“We are denying them the chance to go and that should be considered.”
McInnes believes the rescheduling has an impact on both clubs involved.
He said: “When we go to Inverness on a Saturday, if we are doing well we will sell out, but we won’t get anything near that on a Monday night.
“Things could be easier for the supporters.
“I think they accept the television companies have a huge part to play and have to do what is right for them.
“But we can’t cut off and annoy the supporters we need to be there.”
