Only Celtic and St Johnstone have won at Pittodrie in 2015 but Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes believes his Reds have their work cut out against in-form Partick Thistle in their final home game of the year.
The Maryhill Jags have won four matches in succession and head north fully rested after their Boxing Day encounter with St Johnstone was postponed.
McInnes says Partick manager Alan Archibald deserves huge credit for the job he is doing at Firhill.
The Dons manager is expecting a stern test as they look to extend their unbeaten run to eight matches and keep pace with Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic.
He said: “Alan is as good a manager as there is in the league.
“He goes about his business quietly, he doesn’t shout from the rooftops about what he’s doing.
“I played with him, he manages like he played in that he just gets on with everything with no fuss.
“He’s a very good manager and Partick Thistle are lucky to have him. When you watch his team you can see his stamp on it and the way they’re coached.
“It’s no surprise they are doing well this season.
“Alan has had consistency of selection and is doing a brilliant job.”
Willo Flood is back available for the Dons after missing Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Caley Thistle because of illness, while captain Ryan Jack is set for his 200th appearance for the Dons.
McInnes said: “It’s great for Ryan to have had so many games, to get to 200 matches is an achievement.
“He has been in the side since a young age.
“He has played different positions and had a few injuries within that period so it is good on him to get to 200 games.
“He should be proud of that and hopefully he marks that with three points for the team.”
McInnes, meanwhile, is optimistic tonight’s match will not fall victim to Storm Frank, despite severe gales and heavy rain forecast for much of today.
He said: “The pitch is really soft and we were worried about the effects of the game on Saturday but it is actually looking better than we would have expected.
“The pitch should be OK to take what is coming but I don’t think it will be the easiest of conditions to play in.
“Hopefully we can get the game on and it will be all right.”
