Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has challenged his players to make 2016 a year to remember by winning silverware.
The Dons finished second in the Premiership last season, their best league finish for more than two decades, and recorded the highest points tally for a team other than Celtic or Rangers. But the Aberdeen manager wants his players to have something tangible to show for their efforts.
He said: “There have been some things to be pleased about from the past year – the record points tally, finishing second by some distance, taking the league to the last four games of the season, but there could have been a bit more.
“I am hoping 2016 can give us that which means a trophy.
“Everyone talks about the unbeaten runs, the clean sheets record but that easily gets forgotten about – winning trophies doesn’t.
“It’s about winning silverware and hopefully we can look back on 2016 with something to show for it.”
