Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes believes he does not need to bolster his squad during the January transfer window.
The Dons face Hearts this evening in an eagerly anticipated fourth round Scottish Cup tie at Tynecastle.
Southampton forward Sam Gallagher was linked with a loan move to Pittodrie earlier this week, while Ryan McLaughlin and Josh Parker will return to their parent clubs after this weekend’s match.
But McInnes feels he possesses enough quality to achieve the club’s objectives this season.
He said: “The reality is we’re not looking to bring anyone in because we don’t have money to spend.
“Anything that did come in would have to be self-funded.
“The squad I have now was the squad we built for the rest of the season.
“Josh and Ryan have gone back to their clubs so we have lost them but they were not a huge financial outlay, we did well on both deals.
“So although they have gone back it doesn’t give us scope to bring anyone in and that’s the reality of it.
“We don’t have money to spend so we’ll go with the squad we’ve got.
“Every manager will look to add to their squad and want one or two players.
“But I’m grateful for what I’ve got because I’ve got a competitive budget and a competitive team on the pitch every Saturday.
“It has done okay for us up until now and I have huge confidence in the squad I have here.
“We put it together for the season, not just to get us to January.
“So while having money available would be nice, I’m relaxed about it.”
An away trip to Tynecastle would not have been McInnes’ preferred way to start their Scottish Cup bid but the Aberdeen manager is relishing the challenge.
He added: “It’s a tough tie but what a brilliant one to be involved in.
“We are taking a big crowd down there, Tynecastle is a great venue and it will be a good occasion.
“I think we’ve sold 3,500 tickets, it’s live on television.
“We will be doing all we can to get into the next round.
“We played well down there earlier in the season, that was one of the best performances and the standard of the goals was fantastic.
“Hearts showed their fighting qualities in the second half of that one and never gave it up.
“But I think we have deserved to win both matches so far and showed two different sides in them.
“The first one was through the quality of goals, while the second was down to battling.
“But overall, I believe we were the better side.
“There’s a healthy respect between the teams, there will be a lot of good players on show.
“It pleased me that we showed the battling side of our game, the intensity and the rhythm to our play as well.
“Both games against Hearts have been different challenges so we proved we can adapt.
“We just want to win the game this weekend so will have to do whatever it takes.
“It will need a strong performance to get the job done.”
