Aberdeen defender Paul Quinn will not be leaving Pittodrie before Friday’s match against Dundee.
The 30-year-old has been heavily linked with a move back to his former side, Ross County.
Quinn joined Aberdeen from County on a two-year deal in the summer but talks have been held between the clubs about a potential return to Dingwall.
However, any potential move will not take place until after this Friday’s Dons match against Dundee at Pittodrie.
Mark Reynolds is suspended for the match after his red card in Sunday’s 3-2 victory over Ross County.
That leaves the Dons with only three recognised central defenders for Friday’s match – Ash Taylor, Andrew Considine and Quinn.
Manager Derek McInnes said: “Paul Quinn is our player. No deal has been done with Ross County.
“People have got ahead of themselves. Paul will be an Aberdeen player this week. Any player who does leave us will only leave the club if it suits us.
“Paul will be in the squad for this week’s match against Dundee.”
With captain Ryan Jack and Willo Flood both sidelined by hamstring injuries, McInnes has expressed his desire to sign a midfielder before the transfer window closes.
The Aberdeen manager says he will only bring someone to Pittodrie if he believes they will enhance his squad.
He said: “It is important we try as best we can to bring in a good player. We have got lots of names thrown at us and lots of possibilities.
“I don’t want to make a signing just for the sake of making a signing. I want to make sure it is a player who will bring something to the squad.
“I don’t expect anything to happen before the Dundee game.
“Whether I will make any signings between now and the end of the window is another matter.
“There certainly won’t be anything prior to Friday’s game as it stands.”
