Hearts have reportedly beateren Aberdeen in the race for the signature of experienced midfielder Don Cowie.
The 32-year-old was released by Wigan on Friday and was seen as ideal cover for the Dons midfield, with Ryan Jack and Willo Flood both struggling with injuries.
Ross County were also linked with the former Scotland international who is originally from the Highlands and has previously spent time with both the Staggies and Caley Thistle.
However, Hearts boss Robbie Neilson has convinced Cowie that his future lies at Tynecastle and he is expected to join the capital club later today.
