Ross County manager Jim McIntyre wants his players to avoid the chatter from the chasing pack and focus only on securing fourth place in the Premiership.
The Staggies host Hamilton Accies today with its grip on fourth place precarious at best as just six points separate Jim McIntyre’s team and 11th-placed Kilmarnock.
The Staggies have just seven games remaining before the Premiership splits but chasers Dundee, Caley Thistle, St Johnstone and Partick Thistle all have games in hand.
McIntyre has told his players to focus solely on their results and said: “The only thing we can affect is our matches.
“If we do that in a positive way we don’t have to worry about looking over our shoulders.
“It’s on our own hands – we’re in a good position and it’s up to us to maintain our place in the top six.”
Accies were hammered 8-1 by Celtic at Parkhead on January 19, but have recovered to record a 1-0 victory against Kilmarnock and goalless draws against Hearts and Dundee United.
McIntyre expected a revival from Martin Canning’s team and said: “They responded well to the beating they got from Celtic with some positive results and credit to them for that.
“It would be easy, after such a heavy defeat, for the players to feel sorry for themselves. They’ll be coming here determined to put one over on us.
“They have bounced back and that is just what I expected. They’ve done consistently well since they have been in the Premiership.”
County defender Marcus Fraser will miss the game after dislocating his shoulder in last week’s 2-0 loss against Celtic.
The Scotland under-21 international will see a specialist on Monday and McIntyre added: “We’ll then see what course of action to take.
“It’s too early to tell but he’s positive and in fairly decent spirits so that’s a positive sign. We need to wait and see.”
