Aberdeen captain Ryan Jack is ready to put two months of frustration behind him by gaining revenge on St Johnstone this afternoon.
The midfielder, who turns 24 today, is expected to make his first appearance since suffering a hamstring injury against Partick Thistle in December.
Today’s meeting will be the first time the Perth Saints have returned to Pittodrie since their shock 5-1 win in October.
It was the lowest point of Aberdeen’s season but Jack believes his side showed great character in the manner they responded to that shock loss.
He said: “We sat down as a group after that defeat and acknowledged it wasn’t good enough.
“I think the response since that match has been great and we just hope that continues.
“I have been back training for over a week now and have fully recovered from the injury.
“It is frustrating when you are injured but you can’t let it get you down.
I have a good family and friends around me who kept me busy and upbeat.
“I feel fit and ready to go for the final push until the end of the season.”
Jack, meanwhile, says he has relished his first season as Aberdeen captain.
The midfielder was given the armband following Russell Anderson’s retirement and has embraced the additional responsibilities.
He said: “I have enjoyed every minute of it.
“We have a great dressing room with a good few leaders.
“If anyone has an issue they want to bring up then I am there for them.
“If there is something that needs to be discussed in the changing room then we discuss it.
“I have never had this responsibility before but you learn as you go along.
“The strangest thing is having to sort out all the tickets for everyone’s families.
“You have to make sure they all have their tickets before games so I feel like I’m working in the ticket office.
“All my family come to the game and I usually need between five and 10 tickets every home game at least.
“Jonny Hayes is the one that is always asking for extra tickets. He is from Ireland so I don’t know how he needs 20 tickets for every home game.”
