Hearts are close to signing United States international midfielder Perry Kitchen.
It may be next week before the deal for the 24-year-old is completed as Hearts press on through the paperwork needed to secure his signing.
Kitchen will be available to play immediately as he is a free agent after leaving Major League Soccer team DC United.
The defensive midfielder made 175 appearances for the Washington club, scoring 10 goals, and has made three substitute appearances for the USA in the past 12 months.
Kitchen is the latest imaginative signing from Hearts, who have increasingly looked abroad in their recruitment under director of football Craig Levein and head coach Robbie Neilson.
