Officials from Elgin and Annan are to be called up by the SFA after footage of the rowdy scenes at the end of their 2-2 League 2 draw on April 2 were viewed by the Hampden body’s head of refereeing John Fleming.
City equalised through a late penalty that angered the Galabank side’s players and coaching staff, as they felt Dylan Easton had dived, while a tackle by Elgin’s Mark Nicholson on Smart Osadolor on the final whistle incensed the visitors further.
There were angry scenes involving both sets of players as well as Elgin assistant-manager Gavin Price and Galabank assistant John Joyce.
Annan’s Matty Flynn was red carded for his reaction to Nicolson with the jostling between both sets of teams moving from the pitch to the tunnel and then into the stand at Borough Briggs where the window in manager Jim Weir’s office was smashed.
The Galabank side felt Easton had dived to win the penalty and he was given a two-game retrospective ban. Now both clubs, who could face each other in the play-offs, face an enquiry.
An Elgin spokesperson said: “We have been advised that footage of the events at the end of the game have been handed to John Fleming. Dylan has already been punished and we will need to wait and see what else happens.”
