Caley Thistle midfielder Iain Vigurs says rejoining the Highlanders has helped him get his career back on track.
Vigurs signed up for a second spell at Caledonian Stadium after a frustrating two-year stint at Premiership rivals Motherwell, with the Aberdonian limited to just 15 appearances last season due to a back injury.
Having already clocked up 33 appearances this season, Vigurs is feeling the benefits of regular football at Inverness, where he previously spent two years between 2007 and 2009.
With eight goals already to his name this season, the 27-year-old is targeting double figures before the end of the campaign and he said: “I’ve loved it. Last year was a hard year, being out injured most of it.
“The manager gave me an opportunity to come here and play games and I’ve really enjoyed it.
“I feel I’ve been able to give a little bit back with the faith he’s put in me.
“It’s good to get eight goals, but I’ll be trying to get a bit more and hopefully reach double figures by the end of the season.”
Vigurs’ contract is due to expire at the end of the season but he is determined not to let the uncertainty over his future affect his performances in the remaining matches, adding: “I think if anyone’s contract’s up at the end of the season they’re playing for their future, whether that’s here or anywhere.
“We’ve got five games to go, I’ll just keep doing what I’m trying to do and try and get some wins.
“I just have to keep going and see what is what.”
Despite failing to make the top-six, Vigurs remains intent on finishing the season strongly and he said: “It would be the same if we were in the top-six. With five games to play, we will try and win them all to try and finish as high as we possibly can.
“For us that’s seventh, and that’s what we’ll be aiming for.”
