What now for Aberdeen? It is a question manager Derek McInnes has surely been pondering for more than a few weeks.
He now knows the title is staying at Parkhead and will face new adversaries next season in the shape of a new Hoops manager and Rangers, who are back in the top flight of Scottish football.
Sustaining a title challenge for a third year, and improving on the last two campaigns, will not be an easy task but is one McInnes must face head on.
Derek McInnes has signed 27 players for the Dons – we rate each of his signings here
Danny Rogers will return to Pittodrie at the end of Falkirk’s play-off campaign ready to challenge for the goalkeeper position following a fine season with the Championship club.
His performances earned him a place in the PFA Championship team of the year, an honour bestowed by his colleagues in the division. Will it be Scott Brown, who is out of contract in the summer, who challenges Rogers or should the manager look around for another goalkeeper?
The Aberdeen manager’s interest in Michael McGovern of Hamilton Accies is well known and the Northern Ireland international has certainly had a fine season in a wildly inconsistent Accies team.
The rumour mill continues to throw Rangers’ goalkeeper Cammy Bell’s name Pittodrie way, but clearly a decision on Brown’s future must be made first.
The 3-0 defeat at St Johnstone on April 22 left McInnes bemoaning his side’s failure to compete physically so should the Dons will be looking for another defender in the mould of Ash Taylor?
Taylor is a fine defender, but consistency remains an issue. As good as he can be, when he has a bad day at the office they tend to be damaging and he was culpable in the 5-1 loss to St Johnstone, the only home defeat of the campaign, and the 3-1 loss at Caley Thistle.
With Paul Quinn returning to Ross County a defensive replacement is required and perhaps McInnes will look for a versatile right-sided player who can also fill in at full back as cover for Shay Logan.
McInnes also wants to strengthen his midfield. He failed to land Caley Jags midfielder Greg Tansey, but do not rule out a second bid for the player this summer.
The other senior player at the club, Barry Robson, is also awaiting a decision on his future. His appearances have been sporadic this season and he will be 38 in November.
Does the veteran have another season in him? He certainly believes so and joked at the club’s player of the year dinner last month he had agreed a new three-year deal with chairman Stewart Milne. Has he convinced his manager?
An attacker to support Adam Rooney will be on the shopping list. He returned from injury against Motherwell last week to score his 20th goal of the season and remains the number one forward at the club, but he needs support.
Lawrence Shankland will return from his loan at St Mirren and as he enters the final year of his contract the forward has a big challenge ahead in proving himself at first team level, where he has yet to score.
Loan signing Simon Church’s return since arriving from MK Dons has been good, but he will head back to his club following the final game of the campaign next week at home to Ross County.
Ross County forward Alex Schalk was one forward linked with the Dons recently, but the trial offered to Folkestone Invicta forward Harry Smith suggest the manager is looking for a more physical option in the final third.
At 6ft 6in former Chelsea youth team player Smith certainly fits the bill but the Dons have not followed up their interest in the Ryman League forward. Transfer activity will likely be brief, but quick as McInnes and his players are back in action in the Europa League on June 30.
Close season break and time to reflect? Fat chance.
The planning for the new campaign is already underway.
