Ross County forward Liam Boyce is ready for his final Euri 2016 audition.
The season finishes tomorrow at Aberdeen, after which Boyce will join up with his international team-mates.
Michael O’Neill’s side play their final home friendly prior to the tournament against Belarus on Friday, May 27, with the final 23-man squad for the championships named the following day.
Northern Ireland will be competing in the European Championship finals for the first time, their first major tournament since the 1986 World Cup finals in Mexico, and Boyce wants his place.
He said: “After the Aberdeen game I’m back to Belfast then we fly to Manchester on Monday for a training camp.
“It will be the last look at the squad for the manager to make his mind up, so it is going to be a big week.
“It is a bit like when I was a young boy and my contract was coming to an end. I have those last couple of weeks to prove what I can do.
“I am going into it knowing I’ve done all I can, up to now. All the forwards have been scoring goals through the season, so everyone is in with an equal shout.
“I’ve been with Michael O’Neill in a few squads but I think he would still want to see me again in a game.
“He’s seen me in training and come to watch me here at Ross County, so he knows everything about me but wants to see how I do in the squad.
“All I can do is try to score on Sunday and keep my name in his mind.
“If I get it, I will be thrilled.”
Boyce is County’s leading scorer on 19 goals, but scored for the first time since March in the Dingwall side’s 3-1 defeat against Motherwell at Victoria Park on Wednesday.
The attacker was relieved to end his drought and added: “I haven’t had that many chances. But I had one against Celtic and missed that, so it was dragging on a bit.
“I just wanted to get the ball in the net to take the weight of my shoulders. Thankfully, when I came on the other night I felt I was doing well and, luckily, a chance fell to me and I took it.”
