Here’s a quick look at today’s top transfer tales from north and south of the border, as well as a handful of completed deals…
- Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers hopes to sign £3.5m England Under-21 defender Joe Gomez on loan from Liverpool. (The Sun)
- Hearts are in talks to sign former Kilmarnock striker Conor Sammon.
The Republic of Ireland capped forward was a target for Aberdeen but he is now expected to move to the Edinburgh club.
Sammon, 29, was released by Derby County at the end of the season. (Edinburgh Evening News)
- Neil Lennon is now odds on favourite to replace Alan Stubbs as Hibs manager.
Lennon has had his odds slashed and moved ahead of Malky Mackay and John Hughes to become the front runner for the job according to the bookmakers. (Daily Record)
- Rangers have made a move for Khalid Aucho, according to the Ugandan midfielder’s club, Gor Mahia.
Gor Mahia claim that their player has received a written offer from the Glasgow club but no deal has been agreed as yet.
Aucho said: “It is true Glasgow Rangers have approached me, they are interested in my services and as a matter of fact I want to join them.
“Everything is on the initial stage, but I hope it goes through because it is every footballer’s dream to achieve such a fete. The club (Gor Mahia) is aware of it and I hope that all will run smoothly.”
Aucho has previously been compared to former Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama (Daily Record)
South of the border
- Liverpool are close to signing Anderlecht midfielder Samuel Bastien.
The 19-year-old was watched by Reds scouts last season while on loan at Italian Serie B side Avellino. (The Sun)
- New Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has dismissed rumours of winger Jesus Navas returning to Sevilla. (BBC Sport)
- Club legend Ryan Giggs, 42, is set to end his 29-year association with Manchester United by declining a new position under Jose Mourinho.(Daily Mirror)
- Leicester City are close to making their first signings of the summer, with the arrival of Germany goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler, 27, and Spanish defender Luis Hernandez, 27. (Leicester Mercury)
- Premier League newcomers Hull City have offered new deals to midfielder Tom Huddlestone and full-back Ahmed Elmohamady.
Former England international Huddlestone, 29, made 47 appearances last season while Egyptian Elmohamady, 28, played 51 games.
- Barcelona have confirmed Dani Alves is to leave the club after eight years, three Champions Leagues and six league titles.
Done deals
- Motherwell have tied captain Stephen McManus on a new two-year deal.
The defender’s contract was to run out this month and he is believed to have to taken a pay cut to stay at Fir Park.
- Young defender Liam Henderson has joined Falkirk on a free after he was released by Hearts.
- Rotherham United have confirmed Scottish Cup winning Hibs boss Alan Stubbs as their new manager.
- Owen Coyle has been appointed the new Blackburn Rovers manager on a two-year deal.

- Aston Villa have named Roberto Di Matteo as their new manager, with Steve Clarke as his assistant.
- Newcastle United manager Rafa Bentiez has named Mikel Antia as his assistant manager. The 43-year-old Spaniard replaces Fabio Pechia who is now manager of Serie B side Verona.
- Former Aberdeen and Rangers winger Sone Aluko, 27, has been released by Hull City.
