Former Newcastle defender Steven Taylor is expected in Glasgow to hold signing talks with Rangers today.
The 30-year-old centre half was released by Newcastle at the end of the season after making just 10 appearances in an injury plagued campaign.
Taylor spent 13-years with the Magpies but manager Rafa Benitez told the defender he was free to leave St James Park after the club’s relegation from the English Premier League.
Mark Warburton is keen to strengthen his defence and believes Taylor could provide competition for last season’s first choice defensive pairing Rob Kiernan and Danny Wilson.
Taylor is also considering offers from Turkey, while Hull and Brighton have both previously been linked with moves for the defender.
Rangers have already signed Taylor’s former Newcastle team mate Joey Barton, as well as adding Jordan Rossiter this summer, while Accrington Stanley duo Josh Windass and Matt Crooks have both agreed to join the club on pre-contract deals.
